A very different story about a parent/children conflict

The Family Fang. Die gesammelten Peinlichkeiten unserer Eltern in der Reihenfolge ihrer Erstaufführung, englische Ausgabe
von Kevin Wilson

Really enjoyed reading this book. The story differs from the usual parent/children conflicts. The book depicts Camille and Caleb Fang, who consider that only crazy, embarrassing and spontaneous performances in public to be 'real' art.

Really enjoyed reading this book. The story differs from the usual parent/children conflicts.

The book depicts Camille and Caleb Fang, who consider that only crazy, embarrassing and spontaneous performances in public to be 'real' art.
They include their children A (Annie) and B (Buster) unwillingly into these happenings for many years until Annie moves out first and Buster a few years later.
When Annie and Buster encounter severe problems they have to return home to their parents not feeling too happy about the fact that they have no choice to live with their parents again. They fear that they will unwillingly be included in new performances again.
Suddenly the parents disappear, maybe were murdered...or was it only another cruel/mad performance?
In the end, will Camille and Caleb decide for the children or for moving the way of 'art' into an even more absurd level?
Touching book whose chapters switch between the main plot and flashbacks that outline the happings.
