Black Lies is a story of lies, secrets and betrayals, of unwavering love, loyalty and selflessness. A complete contradiction- but once you read, you’ll get it. As much as it may not seem like it, it’s an beautiful and intense love story above all else. This love story was different than anything I’ve ever read before.

This is the story of heiress, Layana Fairmont, Lana aka Lucky raised in privilege by wealthy parents to become a trophy wife. But instead she cashed in her inheritance and made her own version of the good life by living well and working part time at the charity, Homeless Youth of America, HYA.
At a fundraiser for her charity she meets inventor and CEO of BSX, Brant Sharp and is stricken by his beauty, intelligence and down-to-earth personality. They immediately hit it off feeling an insane attraction and connection. Once they overcome some hurdles they begin dating.
Life is on track moving towards marriage when their world come crashing down. What follows is a story of deceit, trust issues, selfishness, altruism, secrets, pain, and… LIES pushing their lives into a tailspin.

I'm going to be honest. I knew the twist before I started reading the book. I'm not a very trusting reader and with a story set up like this, I just had to know that this was actually a story I'd be okay with. So I found out first. Personally, I felt like knowing in advance made me appreciate the story even more because I knew what to look for and I was able to enjoy the journey rather than worry about the outcome.

The suspense was good, but it did get overwhelming. The romance was cute, but not always sigh-worthy. The writing fantastic, the atmosphere noticeable and rightly adding some complementary effect to the story. The plot did get repetitive from time to time, but was overall well-done.
It is worth reading, which is something I have to admit. There though effectively were scenes I would change to make this whole story more addictive and, really, there should have been more clues or twists as for what Brant’s secret is.
