Acquired a print edition of this book, which I believe is a must-read for all steampunk, SF and fantasy fans.
The world created by Jay Lake is simply marvellous, weaving together the Archangel Gabriel, steam-powered airships, clockworks, naive but happy "native inhabitants" of an uncivilised continent, perilous winged creatures, a sorcerer, monks, and a government that is quite disillutioning.
Apart from the steampunk machines and the mysterious creatures, the novel is full of action which makes you read on and on until the end. It's a great adventure story.
Lake wrote two follow-up stories, which are on my reading list for 2015.
