“I want this girl. I want her for my own. End of story. The world can fuck off for all I care. She’s mine.”

The Impact of You was my first Kenall Ryan book.

Avery is going to college, living life, but she is not really living. She is going to a school where nobody knows her. She won’t get too close to anyone. There is something in her past she can’t get out, so she keeps to herself. She keeps her distance from everyone, except her two best friends. But even they don’t know about her past.

Jase Owens on the other hand is ready to find peace after years of living wild. Parties and girls were his two main focuses until his mom’s suicide made him see the bigger picture in life. When he and Avery meet up, Jase’s interest is peaked by the quiet girl who doesn’t have much experience in life. Appointing himself as her life coach, he sets little ‘challenges’ up for her to slowly break out of her shell. The interest is definitely there during their friendship, but Avery is not in position to trust. Jase bids him time while still teasing and keeping the interest up.

This is a story of friendship between two lost and unhappy souls; one that blossoms so beautifully into affection and love, and yet there is just enough snippets of back-story and sub-plots to keep it interesting and highly entertaining.

If you want a New Adult College romance, then The Impact of You by Kendall Ryan is the read for you. Overall a good read, not stellar but not tragic.
