Not as good as the original series

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Pts. 1 + 2
von Joanne K. Rowling Jack Thorne John Tiffany

When I heard the news that an eigth Harry Potter book would be coming out, I waas over the moon. Even if it's „only“ a play.

Having read „Harry Potter and the cursed child“ now, I am happy that I could revisit this world. It brought back many joyful memories. An extra star for that, the play altogether was an okay read. But however it might be performed on stage, it is just nowhere near the original books when it comes to character development and plot. The magic was gone.

Spoilers following now, you have been warned:

First of all, what did they do to Ron? He was ony goofing around, it didn't do his character justice. I didn't recognize or connect with Hermione and Harry either. Scorpius and Draco were depicted very well on the other hand. Harry's and Albus' father-son-issues were okay though and I found it plausible. Other characters were mentioned but they didn't take part in the play, which was a shame: Hagrid, the Weasleys, Harry's and Ginniy's other kids as well as other siblings.

The more I think about the plot, the more holes and contradictions I find:

The whole time-turner-thing was discombobulating to say the least. Time travel is always a good option when you want to avoid something new and warm up old scenes from the book instead. Time Travel in the „Prisoner of Azkaban“ was also depicted differently (Harry's patronus...).

The magic of Hogwarts was nonexistent as well as its protecting charms, everyone could just walk around everywhere or use the floo network.

How did Albus and Scorpius snatch the blanket from the Potters?

Hermione is the most intelligent witch of that bunch and minister for magic besides and she hides the time-turner in her bookshelf that gives hints where to look? Two kids can break into her office?

Voldemort, this asexual being, who cannot fathom what love is, has a child with Bellatrix Lestrange? WHAT? I just can't buy this, sorry, it felt like bad fanfic.
