Someone who reads a lot, may come to a point in his life, where all the story start getting predictable. Yeah seen THAT before, uhh another author got this better planned out... ah well, I saw at least 3 movies with that twist... Bryn Greenwood managed to write a story that for me, was like a fresh breeze. Finally a story that shook you again, to the bones, made you wonder and question yourself. A Story, where you coulnd't predict the ending. While reading you ask yourself: What to compare this to? And ther eis nothing. Nothing I read a last. Of corse Lolita comes to mind, just to discard the thought again after just some seconds. This is nothing like Lolita, don't make this mistake. Where Humbert was a predator, looking for cute young girls and doing everything to get into their lifes, Kellen never actually wanted Wavy like that when she was a kid, he never intended to fall in love with her. They bonded in the most beautiful way, unterstood each other deeply. I loved how Bryn Greenwood never dictates the readers how to feel. You can read the whole thing and be disgusted, get on Wavy's aunt side. You can be horrified. Or you can read the story of Kellen and Wavy as a lovestory that survives everything. Or just a sad book about a difficult subject. You're free to see it as whatever you want, but nomatter how you look at it, it is a perfect little gem to have on your shelf as it makes you feel things, gets you involved and finally... is really refreshing in the mass of books out there.
