Deadly Sound

This book didn't feel like a James Patterson novel but rather like a mix between Stephen King and Michael Crichton. A very mysterious thing, noticeable by a strange sound, either kills people immediately or turns them literally into 'walking deads'. 

Since the reader wasn't any wiser than all the experts that were gathered to analyze the anomaly it was very suspenseful from the very beginning until the end. What is this noise, why is it happening, and the most pressing question: how...
