On the flooded coast of former Los Angeles, two warring nations exist in North America the Republic and the Colonies. Fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy born in one of the Republics wealthiest districts. Fifteen-year-old Day is the countrys most wanted criminal. When Junes brother is murdered, Day becomes the prime suspect. They begin a game of cat and mouse, but soon find out the truth of what brought them together and the lengths their country will go to in order to keep its secrets.
