Based on the motion picture screenplay by Richard L. Ramsey and inspired by the biblical book Song of Solomon, The Song is a modern take on King Solomon’s life. Readers who are familiar with the biblical king will find parallels in the stories.
A captivating read, The Song tells a love story that is raw and, at times, painful. While it was fairly obvious where the story was going, it was still a captivating read, if also a very emotional one. Chris Fabry has a way with words that suck you into the story. The emotions were tangible. I really felt for the characters and even ended up sympathizing with one I initially disliked.
The ending came somewhat abruptly for me. I am glad there was a happy end to the story but how it came about was missing for me. I would have liked to have known more about what the road to redemption looked like for Jed. Having said that, I would still recommend The Song. And I look forward to watching the movie.
