Though they use their talents to entertain and amuse the masses, the gladiators are actually highly trained warriors skilled in the art of war, especially Lucas Sullivan, a powerful magier with secrets of his own. Uncertain of her future—or if she even has one—Evie begins training with the troupe until she can decide her next move.
But as the bloodthirsty Vasilia exerts her power, pushing Bellona to the brink of war, Evie’s fate becomes clear: she must become a fearsome gladiator herself . . . and kill the queen.
Meine Meinung
Ich bin schon seit langen ein Fan von Jennifer Estep und auch bei dieser Buchreihe hat sie mich nicht enttäuscht. Evie ist eine junge Frau, welche in einer Welt in der die eigene Magie den Platz in der Gesellschaft bestimmt, quasi ein Niemand ist - obwohl sie weit oben in der Thronfolge steht. Vasila ist ihre Cousine und wenn man böse und verkommen im Wörterbuch suchen würde, würde ihr Name erscheinen. Doch durch eine Wendung des Schicksals wird Evie aus ihrem bekannten Umfeld gerissen und muss sich ihren Platz in der Welt erkämpfen. Auf ihrem Abenteuer erfährt sie Liebe, sie findet Freunde an den unwahrscheinlichsten Orten und erfährt herzzereißende Verluste. Die Handlung ist wahnsinnig gut beschrieben und die Charaktere sind mit Liebe fürs Detail entworfen.

Ich habe schon lange auf ein Buch von Jennifer Estep gewartet, welches von der Schreibweise/Erzählart an die Black Blade Triologie anknüpft, welche einer meiner Lieblingsreihen ist und diese Triologie hält, was der Klappentext verspricht! Auch für alle Fans von Sarah J. Maas, Holly Black und Jennifer L. Armentrout ein Leseschmaus!
