Fangirl - Rainbow Rowell

Fangirl - Rainbow Rowell

Fangirl
von Rainbow Rowell

"Will you read this? I think maybe it sucks. Or maybe it's awesome. Tell me it's awesome, okay? Unless it sucks." (p. 76)

Cath is a real fangirl, she loves everything that has to do with Simon Snow. And so did her twin sister Wren as well until they go to college and she's more interested in parties and boys.
So Cath is on her own, but then she meets Levi, a very smart boy, but unfortunately he's the boyfried of Cather's roommate Reagan...

"Fangirl" is my second book of Rainbow Rowell and because I loved "Eleanor & Park" quite much I had to read "Fangirl" as well.

First of all I really enjoyed Cather and Levi and the other characters, as like in "Eleanor & Park" they all seem so normal, no bad boys no 'superpowers', only nice young people. Especially Cath developed quite much through the book. From the really shy girl of the beginning she become to a self-confident women.

I also loved how the story and the love in it has to slowly grow up. No rush actions, but a lovely lovestory. Sometimes a bit too predictable but nevertheless really awesome.

But there is one big point, that can't convinced me: The Simon-Snow-thing. I'm so sorry, but the fanfiction inside the story destroyed it sometimes quite much. They where so useless for understanding the plot and so boring at all, that I skipped them after a while. It seems like a very boring version of Harry Potter, so I will never read "Carry On".
It was a nice idea, to put Cath's written story inside the book, but in my opinion it would be better without.

So all in all I pretty enjoyed the story at all, but not the Simon-and-Baz-parts so I'm not sure, if I should recommend the book.

"It had gotten easier to write on paper, though Cath still missed her keyboard...
>>I need to cut and paste,<< she'd say to Nick.
>>Next time,<< he'd say, >>bring scissors.<<" (p. 83)
