82 year old Etta sets off from her Saskatchewan home on a mission to finally see the sea, leaving her bewildered husband Otto at home.
Etta and Otto and Russell and James by Emma Hooper is incredibly moving, beautifully written and lingers long after finishing the book.Etta and Otto and Russell and James is a very unique story about three people who have grown older together but still have a lot to live.Emma Hooper writes in a sweet and simple style, so that the book is a very fast read.She takes with her some food and an old rifle and her favourite boots and sets out trekking eastwards on an epic two thousand mile trek.Left alone at home Otto becomes lonely and reminisces about his life with Etta.
We read about their childhood and their early years together, about deep love and friendship.
This book amazed me !

Zwar eine knappe (allerdings liegt in der Kürze auch Würze), aber doch so wertschätzende Rezension, wie sie dieses kleine Büchlein, das mit leichter Feder schweren Inhalt vermittelt, verdient. Chapeau!
