Great book about the problems of autistic teenagers

Things I Should Have Known - Claire Lazebnik

Things I Should Have Known

'Things I Should Have Known' is a great novel about Chloe, a highschool girl, who had to take care of her autistic sister as long as she remembers. She is 17 and her sister, who is three years older than her has never experienced love before. Chloe takes the matter into her own hands and talks Ivy into meeting up with Ethan, a boy from her sister's class. The only problem is: Ethan's brother David is not Chloe's favourite person to start with.

At first it seemed like I'd never like Chloe. She is your average 'liked-by-everyone' high school girl with low standards concerning boyfriends. But as soon as she gets to know Ethan's brother David better, she becomes more reasonable and likeable.

I really liked the way the story went and we learn a lot about Autism. You can tell that the author wrote scientifically about the matter before and it gives the whole novel a scholastic touch but without enjoying the reading experience less.

Recommended for readers who liked 'The Boy Made of Blocks' and 'The Penalty Area'.
