Holly and Bishop are back for their second case together! Detective Inspector Bishop and his team need help  solving a special case. A body of a young boy was found in the forest, naked except for white underwear and a pillow under his head. First impression is that of an angel. His hand clasps an angel pendant which makes Holly wonder about the killer's motivation. Holly Wakefield has the talent of getting into the deepest inside of psychopaths as she proved during their first case and thus is bid to draw a perpetrator profile of this murderer. Holly comes to the conclusion that this person must be very careful and highly effective in his planning but at the same time miming a charming character appearing very pleasant therefore can't under any circumstances be underestimated. She and Bishop find answers about the execution of the crime but are surprised how efficacious the murderer operates. When another dead boy in the same forest turns up the team realises it's only a matter of time when the murderer acts next. And then a boy who fills the killer's criteria gets missing...

It was a bit difficult for me to find back to my former reading routine with Mark Griffin's style, since I read his first book in German but when I learned about another Holly Wakefield book I had to get it right away (by now it's also published in Germany under the title “White Sleep – Unschuldig in den Tod”)!
I like Griffin's desciptive way to build his story. The plot is so well composed and I could not have guessed who it is even though the reader follows the path of the killer as well as Holly's. The end was creepy in more than one way!
