This book is a good 2nd chance romance placed in the beautiful city Rome.

It´s written from the main characters point of view and is about making wrong decisions and mistakes and learning from them, it´s about wasting life and time, about finding and becoming yourself again, about love, hope and it´s about realizing that you are lucky if you are able to get a 2nd chance and find your one true love again.

The main character is Avery, a woman whose life changed the moment she caught her husband cheating on her. To get her head straight again and to think about her life and how she will go on from there, she travels to Rome to see and to live with her best friend. And that´s where she discovers herself, her hobbies, the things she once was passionate about, the city... and Marcello. Marcello, the most attractive man she ever saw, the man she once loved, the man she once had a passionate affair with, the man she left heartbroken and the man who is, unbeknownst to her, a friend of her best friend. Avery never thought that she would see him again and seeing him now, being angry, brought back all those memories and feelings. Having the opportunity to volunteer and work on a vase brings them near each other again. More and more they talk, explain, see and spend time with each other. But can they forget the past? Can they start something even though Avery is still married? Can Marcello forgive her? Will Avery stay in Rome or go back home?

Read and find out ;)

My opinion:

I´m a huge fan of Alice Claytons books, but this one here...I don´t know. Unfortunately I didn´t like it as much as the others.

I love that is was placed in Rome and that Avery was so interested in art, culture and the history. It´s sth I have in common with her. But the descriptions... it was just too much. Too many details, too many places, too many things she saw, too many foreign words... It was almost like 60% about the characters and 40% about the surroundings and the architecture and art (I don´t know, I´m bad with % :P ). I didn´t need a travel book :/ I needed a book I could fall in love with.

I liked how good the temperament and nature of the Italians was captured. It felt a bit like I was in Italy.

I liked Marcello, although sometimes the way he talked confused me. Sometimes he spoke almost perfect English and then he spoke broken English.

Avery was ok most of the time. I just didn´t like that she was mad at her husband for cheating and lying. SPOILER START  She was the first who cheated on him. She was the first who lied to him. And then she´s mad because he did the same? But the thing is... She should have confessed before they married. HE married unknowingly a cheater and liar. And she wasn´t honest afterwards too. For years. Their marriage was based on lies that continued till the end. Avery didn´t even confess to him after they sperated and divorced. I´m not sure what´s worse... Him cheating after their marriage already was "broken" or her cheating and lying from the beginning. SPOILER END

After a while the book felt to me like there´s no goal. Like it´s just floating or rather like it´s on standstill. There wasn´t much happening. Working, exploring, being together- that´s it. It became boring. :(

The End... that wasn´t really an end. To me it was like the book stopped right in the middle. Right when it got more interesting again it ended. Just like that. And there is no Epilogue!!! It was disappointing. There has to be another book with them.

One scene shortly before the book ended- well I was hopeful that what I thought would happen. Well it didn´t or it just wasn´t mentioned. SPOILER START Avery said she was tearing up a lot lately. I was hoping that she got pregnant. Especially because they didn´t use protection all the time. I need and want babies in books! :P But a pregnancy wasn´t mentioned. It could have been the perfect reason for Marcello to stay in Rome with her as well. Hmm... SPOILER END

This book was ok. I couldn´t figure out which author wrote what part. It blended good into one story. But I also just knew Alice Claytons books before. It was the first time I read sth. by Nina Bocci.

So all in all... A nice little lovestory placed in Rome :)
