Stephan Vettel, a manager in the business of high-tech weapon systems, ends up in an intrigue caused by his father-in-law´s connections. Having escaped from a plane crash, not knowing whether it was an accident or rather an attack on himself, he starts thinking what he could do with his „new life“.
The cover with the foggy view and the blood-red letters prepares the reader for the thrilling story. The book is divided into seven parts, at the beginning there is a helpful table with the acting characters and from time to time fitting illustrations in black and white show up. Stephan as the main character is the first-person narrator of the story; but some parts are also dedicated to his wife and his father-in-law, which allows the reader to see the different points of view. Like in a diary each chapter is introduced by an exact date and sometimes even the time is given.
To be honest, the first pages were not that easy for me. Stephan´s story begins the day after the plane crash and then goes back in time. A manner of writing which keeps the story in suspense. On the other hand, in this special case, many of Stephan´s thoughts keep on repeating, the persons are introduced and mentioned with their full names several times and the reader gets to the point of having read the same content before. But soon the story gets clearer and the reader follows the thoughts and actions with attention.
“Death of a Murderer” surely is a book with a thrilling plot, which strength lies in the thoughts and feelings of the acting persons. And from the different points of view you soon get the whole picture of this exciting story.
