“A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight.”

Sustained, the second book in her Legal Briefs series. It can be read as standalone. This time it's Jake Becker's story.

Jake may be my favorite character of Emma Chase since Drew. Jake is a defense attorney. They guy who defends the criminals. He’s also a playboy. But one scare makes him want to change his ways and start to date before sleeping with girls. Jake is the type of guy who isn’t planning on settling down. He doesn’t do commitment or relationships. Then he meets Chelsea and the six nieces and nephews she’s recently been given custody too.

Chelsea’s entire life was changed when her brother and his wife died leaving behind six children between the age of baby and teen. Now instead of grad school, she’s changing diapers and taking kids to practices and school events. Guys aren’t even on her radar right now. Until Jake comes into the picture.

Jake and Chelsea learn how to handle the children and tackle several obstacles including themselves. The story was so very entertaining. Chelsea and Jake were wonderful together. I loved the build up when it came to their relationship. The best thing about this book, of course, was Jake. He's literally perfect. I loved his character development. He first resisted attachment with anybody just to avoid commitment, but when he met those cute and adorable McQuaid kids-- everything just changed. He's so husband and father material. Jake and Chelsea’s story is one I would highly recommend to anyone who’s looking for a story that will make you laugh and make your heart happy! I love books with kids in them and Jake with the kids made this story.

One of the most amazing and unique things about Emma Chase is her ability to write an authentic male POV, and this book is straight up told in Jake's POV. And no one writes a male POV in romance better than Emma Chase. Her heroes are straight shooters and funny and sometimes a bit inappropriate. But in a good fun way! All Emma Chase fans should check this one out. This is her best work since Tangled. One of the most entertaining books I’ve read lately!

This has been a fun book. It offered tons of enjoyable scenes which were also blended with drama, sexiness, and all kinds of cuteness. It really deserves all the praises it gets from everyone who also enjoyed it.
