I'm comparing the text to a copy from 1914. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's fourth and final Sherlock Holmes novel is The Valley of Fear. It's partially based on the real-life exploits of the Molly Maguires and Pinkerton agent James McParland. Between September 1914 and May 1915, the narrative was first published in the Strand Magazine krunker. The first book version was copyrighted in 1914 and published on February 27, 1915, by George H. Doran Company in New York, illustrated by Arthur I. Keller.
