"I love you because you give me purpose."

Beneath This Man is book two of the This Man series picks up just days after the shocking cliff-hanger ending of book 1.

We left Jesse and Ava in the depths of despair at the end of This Man. Both of them are broken by what has happened and their relationship is seemingly in ruins. They’re both in pieces and wrecked and, Jesse especially, hell-bent on self-destruction.

As they move beyond these events and attempt to get their relationship back, Jesse is back in all his arrogant, alpha, dominant controlling glory. Jesse treats Ava as if she were a misbehaving child. Ava is a grown woman. She doesn’t need this man-child correcting her language. As usual, however, Jesse has absolutely no regard for Ava’s feelings. He does want he wants, when he wants. On the other hand, Ava has the backbone of a spineless chicken, so it’s no wonder Jesse tramples all over her.

The characters don’t grow in any way, and they still argue and shout at each other all the damn time it really does give you a headache just reading it.

I'm sorry, I know the majority liked Beneath This Man, but it just didn't work out for me. Also, this book could have been cut in half, there was so much repetition that I found myself skimming a lot of pages. To be honest, if I hadn’t purchased all three books together, having fallen for the hype about these books, I wouldn’t even bother reading book three.
