I had high hopes for my very first (shame on me) Ramsey Campbell book, and in the end I was not disappointed. Though the beginning was slow - so very slow - and I feared I might be in for a very lengthy story with lots of sidetracks and little actual plot, soon I found I was totally immersed in Dominic Sheldrake's life, his view of the world and what he experienced.
