A gripping thriller

Thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The beginning of the book was really intense and I was drawn right into it. I found the story very gripping and the case itself had a complexity I hadn't expected in the beginning.
First I wasn't a big fan of DCI Erika Forster as I couldn't connect with her distant behaviour but throughout the book I understood her more and more. I also liked her beliefs and how she did everything to find the murderer.
As I already said the case had an immense complexity which I enjoyed a lot. I found the connection to the past as well as the high society very interesting. I kept guessing and guessing about the suspects but I could never solve it as a whole so the ending had quite a few surprises for me.
