Katie Wilkinson has finally found the perfect man - but one day he suddenly disappears, leaving behind only a diary written by a new mother named Suzanne for her baby, Nicholas. In it she intimately reveals the romance between herself and the child's father, her hopes for their marriage, and her unparalleled joy in motherhood.

What a moving story. This book draws you in right from the start and keeps you wanting to keep going. I felt like I was missing an old friend when I was not reading it. Although this is not the most literary of books, I responded emotionally to the story. The repeated image Suzanne gives of juggling balls of health, work, family, friends, and love -- but health is a glass ball you can't drop -- really stuck with me. Of course I wept after reading it.

I had never read anything by this author, and I know he is pretty popular. That might be why I stayed away. In any case, I did enjoy this book, although I would equate it to my "chocolate" reading (romance novels) because of its sappiness.
