One of the weaker Sparks books

I have the feeling that I enjoyed Nicholas Sparks older novels more than I am doing his more recent ones.
The setting is wonderful as always, I am enjoying it in every Sparks book. Unfortunately I found "The best of me" boring for almost the whole book. There was nothing happening at all and neither could I feel any chemistry between the protagonists. I didn't like the other perspectives either.
The storyline was very predictable, so I thought. At least I was surprised about one bit at the end of the book but the outcome of that was predicatable again.
Nicholas Sparks' books are usually tearjerkers but here I didn't even have one tear in my eyes.
I am going to see the movie next week, so it's hopefully more entertaining than reading the book.
