Arthur Dent is a regular British man who works in the radio, one morning he wakes up and finds some bulldozer in front of his house.
Before the house is damaged by the bulldozers his friend Ford Prefect rescues him, because the planet earth is going to be destroyed.
To understand the new situation Arthur reads a bit in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which is a manual for galaxy hitchhiking.
This is a really funny story, where the best character is Marvin, a depressive robot.
This book is followed by “The Restaurant at the end of the Universe”.
