This was the first book I read and I'm glad my sister gave it to me.
Jodi Picoult is amazing. She describes Peter's feelings so well, it kind of hurts. Every child is told: "Bullying is a horrible thing, don't bully anyone.",
but the way Peter Houghton was bullied is more than just horrible. It's so humiliating it breaks your heart. You won't even know whose side you are on anymore. Of course killing someone is not acceptable and you are automatically on the victim's side. That's what every child is taught. But after you get to know what Peter went through, you begin to understand his thoughts, feelings and his actions. It's just like a vicious circle: On the one hand you somehow sympathizes with him but on the other hand you hate yourself for doing so.
