Clayton „Clay“ Riddell is on his way to his hotel where he witness an attack of a school girl, who bites a women in the neck and kills her. At the same time all people in the town freakout.
This happened through „The Pulse“ , a signal sent out over the global cell phone network.
Clay is thrown together with middle-aged Tom McCourt and teenager Alice Maxwell; the trio escapes to Tom's suburban home as Boston burns.
They try to survives as best as they could.
It is a nice story but not my favorite or preferred one from Stephen King
