"What will happen to Paris if there is no one left to remember his perfections? [...] You , my queen, must live and remember. That is my blessing and your curse."

Wow! Ever since Juliet I was waiting for a new Fortier book. It is really incredible how she manages to combine a lovestory with so much historial facts and myths and suspense. I was never interested in Amazones and didn't know anything beside that it were strong fighting women living alone. Fortier combines the myths about Amazons with an amazing mix from greek mytholigies. On 3 timelines we get a overwhelming story about the strengh of women. first timeline playes in the beginning of the great amazones, how they were formes, how they became the myth they are now. This story followes Myrina and her path in finding her piece in a cruel world. Second timeline follws a grandmother and Diana, child of 7 years. The grandmother is taken for a loon, believing she is a Amazon called Kara  and living in the attic. She tells Diana stories of the Amazones and her heritage. She leaves without a word and left a book and a bracelet behind. Third Timeline shows adult Diana, phililogist and Dr in history of Amazons eager to make her Grandmother proud by trying to prove the existance of Amazons.
The book starts with a stranger asking Diana to acompany him to Amsterdam as he found prove of Amazons. So the her odyssee starts and on her way she has to discover some incredible secrets, not just about the Amazon, but also about herself.
It's such a capturing book, really! When one timeline starts to get boring it changes into another and you right into it again. I have to admit the volume of the book didn't motivated me but it is so fascinating that it was hard to stop reading. Every page is notwendig.
Anne Fortier is a master in creating lovable characters that stay with you for a long time even after finishing the book. It's truly unique.
I can just recommand Anne Fortier to everyone!

"I believe the only lesson you have yet to learn is how to surrender like a woman." Myrina felt a rush of heat. "Why must a woman always surrender? I am not prey"
"No, I am. Your arrow struck me long ago"- Paris took her hand and placed it on his chest - "right here. And every time I try to pull it out"- he used her hand to demonstrate - "you force it back in."

Only critic with the second Fortier is that if you've read Juliet you know pretty fast who is goign to be the man of her dreams in the end. But it doesn't alter the enjoyment of the story.
