Roald Dahl at his best

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Roald Dahl

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
von Roald Dahl

Once upon a time little Charlie Bucket dreams about finding a golden ticket for visiting Willy Wonka's famous chocolate factory. But there are only five golden tickets hidden in chocolate bars all over the wolrd. Will Charlie find one of them?

"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is one of Roald Dahl's most known books and was filmed as well. I really enjoy the film, it is one of my most favourites, so I wanted to read the book as well. I have read some books of Roald Dahl yet and loved them all quite much.

As in all his books, I really enjoy how detailed and lovely made the protagonists are. You just have to like Charlie.
Although it is a childrens book, every charakter has an own story and special characteristics, so no one is like another.

Just detailed as the characters is the story itself. You can imagine the whole factory and the lovely Oompa Loompas just by the descriptions. But it is also not overdescibed, so that it could be boring. No, Charlies way in getting the ticket and than going through the factory was realy exciting.

Like in the other books, there are many illustrations by Quentin Blake in "Charlie and the chocolate factory" too. It seems, that there are less drawings than in the other books, I read, but that was no  problem. I could get the whole story very well.

As always the last pages of the book are filled with quizzes or something else, to check if you have understand everything. In this book it was only one page, normaly thats around 5-10 pages. So I missed them here a bit, because I enjoyed the quizzes so far quite much.

But all in all "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is a really lovely and wonderful book and I like it as much as the film.
I can recommand it to everyone, no matter how old :)
