Nicht, was ich erwartet hatte, aber trotzdem gut

Moist von Lipwig is not a man who enjoys hard work - as master of the Post Office, the Mint and the Royal Bank his input is, of course, vital... but largely dependent on words, which are fortunately not very heavy and don't always need greasing. However, he does enjoy being alive, which makes a new job offer from Vetinari hard to refuse...
Steam is rising over Discworld, driven by Mister Simnel, the man wi' t'flat cap and sliding rule who has an interesting arrangement with the sine and cosine. Moist will have to grapple with gallons of grease, goblins, a fat controller with a history of throwing employees down the stairs and some very angry dwarfs if he's going to stop it all going off the rails...

Es war das zweite Buch von Pratchett, das ich jemals gelesen habe, jedoch das erste aus der Scheibenwelt. Da immer jeder so geschwärmt hat, hatte ich sehr hohe Anforderungen, die nur teilweise erfüllt worden sind. Zu Beginn kam ich etwas schwer ins Buch, da ich die Charaktere noch nicht kannte und es mir deshalb auch erstmal etwas zu viel wurde. Nach dem "Puh, gleich wird es zu viel" kam ich erstmal in einen Abschnitt, bei dem ich mich etwas gelangweilt habe. Ab der Mitte jedoch ging es ständig weiter bergauf und das Ende war toll. Nicht wie erwartet, aber trotzdem nicht schlecht.
Pratchetts Schreibstil ist toll und es hat mir sehr viel Spaß gemacht, das Buch zu lesen. Ich bin derzeit noch am überlegen, mir noch andere Bücher der Scheibenwelt zuzulegen, mal sehen.

Das Buch jedenfalls wurde nach einem etwas schwachen Anfang noch ganz super und deshalb erhält es von mir 4 Sterne.
