It totally works and I loved it.

I adore the Twilight Saga it's my favourite book series ever and I own so much to that series. Twilight was first book that gave me the feels, first book that I felt I could connect with and first book I reread a million times because I couldn't get enough of it. While reading Life and Death there were moments when I just got so overwhelmed with emotion and nostalgia. It was amazing and beautiful.
When the gender-swap was first announced, I was super excited but I was also really unsure if I would enjoy it. I was scared it would change my perception on the series I loved dearly. But I was wrong. This book totally worked for me. I actually really loved it, it gave a new spin on the story and kinda made it into it’s own without being a completely new story. Same story just more fresh. It's not just a gender-swap rewrite, it has a complete new ending. AND WHAT ENDING THOUGH. Loved it! And I honestly don't care what other people think of me for reading it or just hating on the book itself, I had the most fun time reading it!
So as not to spoil any changes and twists, I'll say it was fun to see an alternate take but I still prefer the original. Bella and Edward had a charm and I don't think this version would have ensnared my adoration or captivated my imagination as the TWILIGHT we've known for years.
This was still interesting, though not necessarily for everyone. Maybe the diehards and curious will enjoy the novelty of this the most but I actually do think it was a cool way to celebrate a phenomenon's tenth anniversary.
