“Eleanor was right. She never looked nice. She looked like art, and art wasn't supposed to look nice; it was supposed to make you feel something.”

It's 1986. Eleanor comes from a broken home, quite literally, her home is broken. Her parents, both not so great to begin with, are divorced. Her mom remarried a man who loves to drink and loves to bully. Eleanor is such a sweet and endearing character. She doesn't let other people get in the way of living her life.

Park, on the other hand, has a wonderful home life. Park is a half-Korean kid that tries to stay out of everyone's way. He's an observer and is often trying to seek the approval of his father.

They meet on the school bus when Park grudgingly allows Eleanor to share his seat.

I loved how the two main characters looked like the weirdest couple ever. I loved how realistic Rainbow Rowell portrays how their relationship builds. I loved the honesty and even though it was very bittersweet, it's very true to reality.

Well, but I'm telling you that ending had me going it went down to three stars for it. Three stars is not a wholly negative rating but I have to admit that I'm a bit disappointed with this one.

Eleanor & Park is great for fans of quirky, nerdy romance stories with an underlying dark angsty side, and for those who love nerdy references. The ending was kind of cliff-hangery and I really want a sequel.
