The Big Friendly Giant with the Big Friendly Heart

That's creepy: In the witching hour little orphan Sophie discovers a giant creature who is ... yeah, what DOES he do? Fact is, he is snatching Sophie and runs off a long, long time to the land of giants. And there? Is he eating little Sophie and enjoying his tasty meal? No. That would be really creepy. That is what all the other giants do. And these guys are really giants. Fifty and more feet tall and bloody murderous. They are mocking the BFG because he is the smallest of them, the only one who isn't eating "human beans" and the one that is blowing nice dreams to sleeping children (and now you know what he did when little Sophie saw him the first time. Pay attention there will be a test afterwards ;D).
As Sophie learns that the other giants are eating children every night she knows that the BFG and herself have to stop them! And so they are planning a masterplan, if you will. Involved gets the Queen of England, the heads of Army and Airforce, a lot of soldiers, and, of course, Sophie and the BFG.
I really, really did like this little story. Sophie was the most likeable little girl you could imagine and the BFG was simply great (no punch intented). His kind of speaking is comparable with the house elves of Harry Potter but with more wittiness and neologism. And you can find a moral without a raised finger. The writing style is very child-friendly and the illustrations are more than suitable. They say a really good children's story is one who is loved by adults, too. So, this is one of them, the story of a little friendly girl with a big heart and a not so big giant with an even bigger heart.
