In book one of the DARKEST POWERS series, THE SUMMONING, Chloe and several of her friends escaped from the group home they had been living in. Now, Chloe and Rae are recaptured by the Edison Group, a shady organization that has genetically altered them to try and make use of the powers that many of them were born with.
The last book ended on a cliffhanger, with Flynn’s big secret callously revealed, sending Natalie reeling. This book picks up immediately after, and we get to see the consequences of the big reveal. Now that Natalie knows all of Flynn's secrets -- about his Dominant side and the BDSM lifestyle that he was willing to sacrifice for her -- she's both curious and intrigued.
Archer Hale has spent his life in solitude. Something traumatic happened to him when he was seven years old and left his voice box so damaged he could no longer speak. Archer is broken, awkward, shy and enigmatic. He is not your typical hero, but that only made me love him more. He had the sweetest soul and that is what made me fall in love with this beautiful broken man.
Valorous is the second installment in Quantum series and picks up where book #1, Victorious ends. So this book begins right in the aftermath of the events that ended book one.... with Natalie reeling in shock and Flynn desperately trying to be there and support her in anyway he could.
The Dominant is the story of Nathaniel West and Abigail King completely in his point of view. It runs along the same timeline as The Submissive but it's almost like a whole different story because we get all the details as to who he is, why he chooses to do the things he does, and how he suffers in silence.
An alcoholic, a liar and a cheat, who can you trust? These are the three women at the centre of this book: Rachel, Anna and Megan. Everyone in this book is absolutely terrible, but this just makes the story more fascinating.
I finished this book a little while ago, but I was traveling through Canada and didn't have the time to write a review until now.
A sweet romance of two people overcoming a half-world of distance.
Virtuous is the first book in the Quantum Trilogy. This is the story of Natalie and Flynn.
First, I have to say that I have read this as Twilight Fan Fiction years ago and loved it. Also, I HATE bringing up FSoG in a review about this book because I hate Fifty Shades of Grey with a passion but it don't have choice, I shall explain that. What's very important to state, is that The Submissive was originally published in January 2009, way prior to the release of FSoG.
This Girl is the final chapter to a great series. In this book , Will tells us the story of how he and Layken first meet, and how they fell seriously, deeply, madly, incredibly, and undeniably in love... Basically, it’s a retelling of Slammed from Will’s POV. At the same time, this story also gives us a glimpse of the future Will and Lake share.
It's 1986. Eleanor comes from a broken home, quite literally, her home is broken. Her parents, both not so great to begin with, are divorced. Her mom remarried a man who loves to drink and loves to bully. Eleanor is such a sweet and endearing character. She doesn't let other people get in the way of living her life.
This sequel makes a smooth transition into Will's perspective, and I truly enjoyed getting the chance to experience the story through his eyes. His gentle voice and thoughtful character made me fall even further in love with him.
Six and Daniel meet in a closet, although it’s dark and they don’t know one another, they connect. I loved reading them fall in love. They had such an intense connection from the beginning and it was a true joy to read. There is even some surprises along the way that will completely shock you. I'm going to avoid saying too much on that subject as I don't want to spoil anything for anyone.
Camryn and Andrew are together. Happy. More in love than they’ve ever been. Then something big happens to them both. Something that changes their lives forever. Camryn starts to change in little ways. Andrew knows he was to do something to bring her back to herself. He decides they need to go back to the start. Back on the road.
A required read for my American Literary Class that I did NOT enjoy.
Slammed is one of those books that is completely unforgettable to me. I adored every single one of these amazing characters and the way they were so realistically portrayed. The unique plot, the bitter-sweet tension, and the tender romance all had me mesmerized.
Did anyone else notice that the ultimate message of this book is that a disabled life is not worth living, even despite a caring family, endless wealth, the best medical care, and (by the end of the book) a devoted, loving romantic partner? For a while I was enjoying the story, but by the end I was deeply distressed about the moral and ethical implications of the book's ending.
Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better than Hopeless, Colleen Hoover proves me wrong! I loved that Losing Hope wasn’t just Hopeless from Holder’s pov... it was so much more. In Hopeless Sky told her side of the story, but this time, in Losing Hope we get Holder's side of the emotional journey.
City of Ashes, in my opinion, worked as a filler between the first book and City of Glass. It lacked the wonderful magic, and had hints of the infamous sequel syndrome. This story was driving by travel, arguing and filler chapters, and of course, forbidden romance.
