A typical guilty pleasure book

After passion
von Anna Todd

Bewertet mit 3.5 Sternen

Tessa is the perfect example of a good girl. All her life she has wanted nothing more than to get a great education and eventually marry her high school boyfriend. But when she starts her first semester at college all is about to change. Soon after she moves in her dorm room she mets Hardin who is the complete opposite of everything she ever wanted. With all his tattoos he’s pretty good looking but he is also the rudest person she has ever met. But there is something about him that makes Tessa want to get to know him better. The more he pushes her away the closer she gets. Why is it so important to her that Hardin likes her? And what about her boyfriend back home?

I think „After passion“ is a perfect example of a guilty pleasure book. You can’t consider it a great book and it’s not a great way of writing either but something about it just makes you want to read more. At the beginning of the book I really hated Tessa and Hardin. Tessa is stuck up, acts like a child and cries about 50% of the time. She has never learned to be somewhat mature and take responsibility as her mother kind of made all the choices for her. Hardin on the other side is annoyingly arrogant and probably as immature as Tessa. Most of the time he is over reacting and just tries to hide his issues with his bad temper. Their relationship is therefore the perfect example of an unhealthy one. Throughout this entire book they just keep hurting each other and making everything worse. Towards the end of the book you could see somewhat of a character development though. Of course they are still  from a normal and healthy couple. But anything else would have been pretty unrealistic considering how much they both still have to work on. Therefore I am glad that she didn’t give them a quick happy ending. Although I didn’t have that many positive things to say I am still looking forward to reading the rest of the series as well.

Even though there was a lot that I didn’t like about this book I still consider myself hooked. I would give it 3.5 five stars and recommend it to anyone who loves a good „trashy“ love story.
